Colorful, Comfortable Guest Bedroom
This Monroe, Wisconsin guest bedroom was updated with a focus on creating a space that felt more intentional, welcoming, and pulled together — without requiring a full renovation.
The room already had several great pieces to work with, including the upholstered bed and fluted dresser. Edge Interiors built the new design around those existing elements, layering in color, softer textiles, updated window treatments, lighting, artwork, and decor to give the bedroom a completely refreshed look.
The Before
The bedroom had the main furniture pieces in place, but the room still felt unfinished. The windows needed more substantial treatments, the walls were bare, and the existing ceiling fan and accessories weren't contributing to the overall design.
The Design Plan
Rather than replacing everything, we focused on the pieces that would make the biggest visual difference.
For this room, the design included:
-
Updated bedding and decorative pillows
-
New window treatments
-
Updated ceiling fan/light fixture
-
Artwork and wall decor
-
Coordinating accessories and greenery
-
Styling of the existing dresser
-
A cohesive color palette designed around the existing furniture
This is a good example of how thoughtful decorating can completely change a bedroom without changing the flooring, trim, or major furniture.
The Finished Room
The finished room feels brighter, softer, and much more intentional. Layered bedding brings texture to the bed, while the window treatments help frame the room and make the windows feel finished. Decor and artwork add personality without overwhelming the smaller space, and the existing furniture now feels like part of a complete design rather than individual pieces placed in the room.
A Refresh Doesn't Always Mean Starting Over
One of our favorite parts of decorating projects is figuring out what doesn't need to change.
For this Monroe home, we were able to work with existing furniture and finishes while using new textiles, lighting, artwork, window treatments, and accessories to give the bedroom an entirely new feel. The result is a comfortable guest room that feels collected, colorful, and ready for visitors.
