Edge Interiors Office

A dated office transformed into a warm, functional workspace that feels unmistakably Edge.

When we moved into our office space in downtown Janesville, we saw plenty of potential—but it definitely didn’t feel like us yet. The existing space had traditional wood trim, dated furnishings, dark painted walls and very little personality. We wanted to show how much of a difference thoughtful decorating can make without completely remodeling a space.

Our goal was to create a workspace that felt professional enough for client meetings, comfortable enough for everyday work, and full of the warm, collected style that represents Edge Interiors.

The Before

Sometimes you don't need to change everything to completely change a room. We worked with many of the office's existing elements, including the carpeting, wall color, original wood trim and ceiling lighting. Instead of fighting those features, we designed around them. The original office lacked defined areas for working, meeting with clients and displaying materials. Our redesign focused on creating those zones while bringing in a much lighter, more cohesive look.

The Design

The office needed to serve several purposes in one relatively small space.

We created areas for:

• Everyday desk work and project planning

• Client consultations and meetings

• Samples, materials and design resources

• Comfortable conversation

• Edge Interiors branding and marketing

We kept the overall palette neutral and layered in black, natural wood, cane, soft sage green and plenty of texture. The existing traditional woodwork could have easily dictated the style of the room. Instead, mixing it with cleaner modern pieces and relaxed boho elements helped bridge the old and new.

A Workspace That Actually Works

The new desk provides a large work surface without visually overwhelming the room, while open shelving and coordinating cane storage keep frequently used materials close at hand. The tall woven bookcase adds vertical storage while introducing the natural texture we wanted throughout the space. And because this is an interior design office, storage doesn't have to look like office storage.

A Place to Meet & Create

We added a round meeting table to give us a dedicated place to sit down with clients, review selections and talk through projects. Black chairs ground the lighter wood table, while a simple centerpiece keeps the space styled without taking away valuable working surface. And of course, we added a little Edge branding.

Mixing Business With Style

One of our favorite additions is the black cane-front cabinet. It provides closed storage while feeling more like a beautiful piece of furniture than traditional office cabinetry. Paired with the textured black chairs, oversized rug, natural woven pieces and greenery, it helps the office feel comfortable and collected rather than corporate. The patterned green wall treatment ties everything together and brings in one of our signature colors without overwhelming the room.

Bringing the Edge Brand Into the Space

A commercial space doesn't have to be covered in logos to feel branded. Instead, we pulled the Edge Interiors aesthetic into the room through color, texture, furniture and styling. Natural woods, black accents, greenery, woven materials and soft sage tones create a recognizable look while still feeling appropriate for a professional office. Our large Edge Interiors display gives visitors an immediate introduction to who we are and what we do.

The Result

The finished office feels completely different—even though many of the permanent features of the room stayed exactly the same. That's one of our favorite things about interior decorating.

A space doesn't always need a major renovation. Sometimes the right furniture, layout, color, texture and styling are enough to give it an entirely new identity. Today, our Janesville office gives us a comfortable place to work, meet with clients, spread out samples and plan beautiful spaces—and it finally feels like Edge.
